On Thursday, the 28th and on Friday, 29th of September, from 6 PM, at Toplița Community Centre the „Indentitate prin cultură” event will take place, a festival which will illustrate the customs from the north area of Harghita county. Guests: Livia Harpa, Maria Butilă, Mariana Anghel, Ioan Cristian Țăran, Cătălin Maximiuc, the „Flori Toplițene” Folkloric Group. Project financed by Toplița Town Hall. On Saturday, the 30th of September 2017, from 1 PM you are invited to the „Talente pentru viitor” the 1st edition, Toplița – Subcetate, which will take place at Subcetate Community Centre. Organiser: Asociația Centrul Cultural Ardealul. Project cofinanced by ADI Călimani – Giurgeu.
On Sunday, the 1st of October 2017, from 3 PM, on the occasion of the Elderly People World Day, the pensioners from Toplița are invited to the „Balul Vârstei de argint”, the 6th edition, at the „La moară” Restaurant from Călimănel – Toplița. Guests: Toplița „Rapsodia Călimanilor” Professional Ensemble. The price of a ticket is of 25 lei per person. The tickets may be purchased from the Tourist Information Centre, daily between 10 AM and 4 PM. Organisers: Toplița Town Hall, Toplița Local Council, Toplița Community Centre and Toplița Cultural Centre.
On Sunday, the 1st of October 2017, at noon, on the occasion of Elderly People World Day, at Gălăuțaș Sports base the Pensioners´ Ball will take place. Guests: the local professional folkloric ensembles. Organisers: Gălăuțaș Town Hall and Gălăuțaș Local Council.
Between January and December 2017, the Toplița „George Sbârcea” Town Library organises a photo contest, entitled „Don´t hasten the pace”, on the Library´s Facebook page. Thus, the competitors must upload 5 relevant photos of their locality on the Town Library´s Facebook page, tag #nugrabipasul, but also on their Facebook page, with the same tag, inviting their friends to like them. The most beautiful 20 photos will be published in the topLITERA magazine. The most beautiful 5 photos will be awarded by the care of the magazine´s sponsors, and at the end of the year there will be an exhibition of all the posted photos.
Between March and September 2017, Cluj County Council, „Octavian Goga” Cluj County Library and A.N.B.P.R. organise a new „Battle of the books” reading contest. Children aged 11 to 13, teenagers aged 14 to 18 and adults may enrol. Enrolment is done at all sections and subsidiaries, throughout the duration of the contest. Children have the possibility to read in Romanian and English, teenagers – in Romanian, Hungarian and English, and the adults – in Romanian. For the Romanian respectively Hungarian sections, 10 titles are proposed for reading, and for the English sections – 5 titles. The entrance permit to the library is obligatory. All the 10 books in contest must be read until September 2017. A reading sheet will be handed when enrolling, where one may write down their impressions on the book. When returning the book one has read, one will receive a Reading notebook, where he will give 1 to 5 points for each book he read (1 point for a minimum score, 5 points for a maximum score). Teenagers may choose the digital format of the Reading sheet. The final will take place in October. The finalists´ list will be announced 20 days before the event. The finalists (the participants who go through all the 10 titles) will be invited to the library, where they will be explained how the finale will take place. The finalists may be accompanied by supporters: classmates, teachers, parents. The finale will include: the Convince me to read! debate, where the participants will argue for their favourite book; a contest on the read books; judging and the award ceremony. The participant who will argue best his favourite book and who will answer the best to the questions will become the Reader of the year. The most requested and highest score book will become the Book of the year. Other awards: Best reading sheet, Best pleading. The contest´s results will be promoted in the media and on line. For the adults, the Battle of the books will be in the form of a reading club, with regular meetings where they will discuss the titles proposed for reading, and in the end they vote the Book of the year.
